Mettre l’attention sur le regard, porte de l’âme Soufïa Bensaïd a perdu l’audition en 2012. Depuis, l’écoute est au centre de sa pratique artistique. L’écoute transcende l’univers sonore. Elle dévoile une sensibilité profonde inhérente à l’humain. Cette œuvre est inspirée d’un exercice en ligne développé pendant le confinement pour faciliter la connexion intérieure des uns et des autres et revenir à l’authenticité de nos rapports. L’invitation est de mettre l’attention 5 minutes sur la projection de notre propre regard sur l’écran. Respirer. Et voir ce qui s’y passe.

Video portrait series, Excerpt, 2023 Presented at Cine Perfo international festival, Argentina, 2023 with Jury special Mention. First 17 Portrait series exhibited at Vaste et Vague Gallery, Quebec, 2023 Video series in progress, to gather 100 portraits within a wide diversity of humans. This work is inspired by an online exercise developed during the Lockdown crisis. The practice was facilitating inner connection and the authenticity of our relationships. In a dehumanizing and alienating online environment, these encounters proved how videoconferencing can be a wonderful bonding factor. The invitation is simple: look to your own selfie (in a large pinned screen) and put the attention on your own eyes, and see what happens. Within. The practice is experienced with the presence of 2 or 3 witnesses, holding space and watching the humanity of this intimate process. The experience lasts 5 minutes for each participant.
